A new analytic index of grammatical and linguistic terms, definitions, and categories appears in this volume for the first time; it facilitates immediate reference to all passages in his work where a particular term or feature of his analysis is first introduced or later discussed. The index also includes the major morphemes, formatives, particles and other Japanese linguistic forms which figure importantly in Bloch's description.
